When Newsplex opened in 2002, some
questioned the need for a facility to experiment with and
train on next-generation techniques for editing and presenting
the news. Much has changed since then.
Now, news organizations all over the
world are grappling with an uncertain future. Circulation
is declining, ratings are falling and audiences are obtaining
news and information from a variety of sources, many of them
new and non-traditional. To some, this is a frightening time
to be in journalism. In Newsplex, we see it as a time of
opportunity.
Traditional news organizations are
favorably positioned for the future if they are willing to
use their journalistic strengths in different formats and
delivery platforms. In other words, if they focus on stories
rather than a particular production process. That is the
Newsplex philosophy and the reason why the Ifra Newsplex
