Newsplex: Where the world learns about
convergence
If one were to compile a list of the world's most progressive
media organizations, Impresa in Portugal certainly would
be on the list. In September, a team of 12 Impresa journalists
came to Newsplex for a week of training in the techniques
of convergent journalism.
Impresa is a member of the Newsplex Directorate and a frequent
visitor to South Carolina. For Impresa, this training is
their sixth week-long seminar in Newsplex since it opened
five years ago.
During the most-recent week in Columbia, the Portuguese
created a training moblog (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ifraroles),
produced Podcasts and slide shows as well as formulated plans
for implementing convergence throughout the company.
Impresa is the largest media house in Portugal, with the
country's highest circulation newspaper (Expresso), a TV
network (SIC) and several magazines.
